Maandazi (Khamir)

Makes: 10 to 12 pieces



Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the egg and milk. Blend into a smooth dough.
  2. Roll out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 3/4 inch. Cut into 1-inch square pieces.
  3. Fry the pieces in hot oil on both sides. When golden brown, remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
